Ingane Yami Golf day 2016

Post by Dennis Markham on Ingane Yami - Published June 27th, 2016

On a very hot Saturday 25th June with temperatures in the region of 35C we hosted the seventh annual Ingane Yami Golf Tournament at the fabulous Golf Costa Adeje in Tenerife.  Organised by the staff at Pearly Grey Ocean Club we returned again this fabulous golf course on the south coast of Tenerife for a great day of golf and fundraising.

_PDL5968Once again we teamed up with our media partners OasisFM and Canarian Weekly to help promote the event and ensure that even on one of the hottest days of the year we still had a good turnout of 84 players.  Of course this would not have been possible without the help and participation of Steve Moore and Mike Setch who each year provide us with players from their golf societies ‘The Rabbits’ and ‘The Yellow Shirts’.
Pearly Grey and Ingane Yami would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to all the players who turned up to play and help make this event one of the best on the Tenerife golfing calendar.

_PDL5902This event would not be possible without our sponsors, many of you have been with us since our first tournament back in 2010 and each year you return and support us.  We also welcomed some new sponsors this year and we hope that you will be with us again next year.  Thanks to your support we have raised around €19,000.00 which with a favourable exchange rate will mean R318,000 South African Rand.

Special thanks to our Gold sponsors ‘Dorada’ and official Pepsi distributor ‘Embotelladora Canarias’ and to our new Platinum sponsor Girabebe SL who also provided a hospitality tent at the golf course.  We would also like to thank all the Silver and Bronze sponsors, between you we had 39 sponsors participating, we really appreciate your support.

The tournament started at 09:30 with a shotgun start and 21 teams went into battle to be the 2016 event winners.  Over the next four hours each team made their way around the perfectly conditioned Golf Costa Adeje course, combating the intense heat and as midday approached.  It wasn’t a day to be without liquid refreshment and we had plenty on hand with water, Aquarade or Dorada.
The competition was very closely contested and the eventual winners could only be separated by how they respectively performed on the back nine holes of the course.  The first three places went to;

  1. Phil Hornby, Ian Hamilton, Brian Howard and Tallis on 49 points
  2. Paul Fellows, Bradley Greenwood, Dave Morales and Paul Greenwood also on 49 points
  3. Jose Maria, Thomas Andrews, Noreen Howard and Jan Brockwell on 48 points
