Snorkelling with Adrian Allain

One of our owners Adrian Allain was here with us last week and his favourite holiday pastime is snorkelling and underwater photography. It’s hard to believe for all his holiday activities and energy he is a modest 80 years young!!!!
Let this be an incentive to us all to get out there and enjoy our Isla Bonita under the sea!

Adrian’s first port of call was our local Ajabo Beach here in Callao Salvaje. Although the water was a little choppy it was still clear enough to see the many varieties of fish including blue fin damsel fish, wrasse and large shoals of young barracuda. He even spotted an octopus cleverly camouflaged and enjoying a siesta.

CrabThe next underwater adventure took Adrian and his son a few miles along the coast to “Playa San Juan” in search of better sea conditions. Having hired a car they were relieved to find a large free car park close to the harbour on the south side of town near the Marlin restaurant. This popular costal village is well equipped with sun beds, parasols and toilets and shower facilities.

Adrian wanted to share his experience for fellow snorkelers as the large boat-free area of the harbour was ideal for safe snorkelling, protected from rough seas by a rocky breakwater. The water itself was clear and well populated with an array of colourful fish.

Thanks Adrian for sharing your days and sending us the photos!
