This annual outdoor spectacle reenacts the death and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. With more than 300 amateur actors and actresses participating in this not to be missed performance.

Show Apartment 402

We are very excited to give you a preview of our first completed new show apartment. This new design style will be implemented throughout the resort over the next few years.

This fresh new look incorporates neutral colours and natural wood finishes, and we are delighted with results.

Our management team are currently putting together a provisional schedule for the project, which will be dependent on financial budgets, occupancy levels and maintenance team availability.

The first apartments to be upgraded will be those in the main hotel, as those apartments were the first to be upgraded on the last refurb project, and as such have the oldest soft furnishings and decoration.

As the project commences, we will work our way through the apartments in the main hotel, the S-level and then finally move onto the seafront S1 and S2 apartments.

Pool Refurb – The Details

Artist Impression of new pool Pearly Grey

Construction phase dates

The construction phase will start on 28/04/2023, and from this day the pool area and Quo Bar/Restaurant will be closed. The works are projected to take 8-10 weeks and should completed by 07/07/2023, when the new pool will be ready to open.

Reception hours

The reception will be open 24/7 as usual, and our team will be available to assist all our guests. Normal service will be maintained throughout the pool refurbishment project.

Lower sun deck facilities

Our lower sun terrace will remain open during the pool refurb. The existing sun loungers and bali-beds will still be available, and we will also have mobile jacuzzis for guests to use (subject to availability, reservation required).

Alternate swimming pool arrangements

For the duration of the pool construction, Pearly Grey members & guests will be welcome to use the pool facilities of the nearby resorts of Atlantic Hotel, Mynd Hotel and Tropical Park.

Bar & Restaurant options

As the construction works will also mean our main Quo Bar/Restaurant will be closed, we are moving all food and beverage services to The Edge Terrace Bar. The Edge will be open daily from 08:30 for breakfast, and will remain open all day, with a snack, lunch, and evening menu available. And of course a full bar service until 11pm. Evening entertainment will also be at The Edge, and we expect to have some truly great nights down there.

Pedal & Paddle Combo

Pedal & Paddle combo with Pearly Grey Tenerife

Dare to do something a little different on your holiday @Pearly Grey? Join our fabulous, professional guide, Antonio for our e-bike, kayak & paella experience.

This is the ultimate summer experience, very special and truly unforgettable! Experience the beauty of El Puertito. This will be one of the best, if not THE best day of your Pearly Grey holiday in Tenerife!

We start the day on the e-bikes and cycle to a small coastal hidden gem. It is around a 30 minute cycle past the banana plantations and as the road winds down, you feel  the wind blowing in your face, the magical views  engross you and the feeling of total freedom of being on holiday takes over.

We do cheat a bit as cycling with the e-bikes is much easier than cycling on a traditional bike, so you don’t have to be super fit at all, the electric bike helps you tackle the hills.

Once we arrive, we start our kayaking adventure. We went kayaking for around an hour around the beautiful bay. We had a chance to jump off and swim in the crystal clear waters. This was just incredible, a real unique experience and managed to do a bit of exercise as well.

We had built up quite an appetite after our adventurous morning, so we all really enjoyed delicious Paella and Canarian potatoes in the local restaurant, with splendid views of the coast and cliffs. Cheers to you all! What a delicious lunch!

Once finished, we cycled back to Pearly Grey, enjoying the magnificent views once again and a feeling of accomplishment and gratitude for these fabulous times.

At Pearly Grey, we like to support local businesses and this tour makes a difference to our locals who really appreciate our custom. We believe in looking after the environment and being eco-friendly and incorporate this into our specialised trips around our beautiful island.

If you would like to book this tour, please get in touch and let the adventure begin!

Karin’s tips: Don’t forget your hat and sun cream, your swimming clothes of course and best to wear trainers for the bike ride if you have them. You don’t have to be fit; the e-bike does the hard work.

If you want to hire a traditional bike, this could also be an option.

Rescuing Children: Little Akhona

Akhona is the newest little girl to call Ingane Yami home.

She arrived at the Village a few days before the South African lockdown, on 8 March 2020.

When Akhona first arrived it was clear she was in dire need of some love and nurture. Her little body was covered in mole like spots, her tummy was too big for her frame and her one leg was larger then the other as a result of hormones she had been given at birth. She had just learnt to walk and was not confident to climb down steps, let alone go near the jungle gym.

For the first few months, during hard lock down, the only intervention we were able to give was that of a loving and secure home environment, a healthy balanced diet, and lots of love and attention from her mom and ‘big’ sister. Can you believe, that was enough to completely clear up her skin! Her tummy came into proportion and her entire countenance changed. In July, when we were able to go back to work, one of our social workers began working with Akhona on her gross and fine motor skills, under the guidance and advice of our volunteer O.T. Within a few weeks Akhona had gained tremendous confidence in her ability to run, jump and play.

Since joining the school full time in the beginning of the year, Akhona has continued to grow from strength to strength. She has come out of her quiet and timid shell and is expressing herself more and more, both verbally and in her body language. As Akhona is now learning both English and Zulu, she has developed her own mix of Zulu-English that only her teacher and mom really understand; with some words being crystal clear, and others ending up as a proper mash-up! Her gross motor and fine motor skills have made tremendous progress as she is now able to run, climb on the jungle gym and swing on the swing! She is forever asking her teacher to push her “higher, higher!”; something she would have never had the confidence to ask for a few months ago. Her ballet teacher also cannot believe the improvements, as she’s able to balance on one leg and stand on her tiptoes.

Akhona is truly a beautiful little girl, with so much potential! Restoration is something that happens gradually, year after year. We have already seen so much healing and restoration in her life already and we cannot wait to see that continue to take place in the months and years ahead.

Vilaflor Trikes & Wine Tasting

A massive thank you to Ian & María @boom_trikes_tenerife 🙏👊🏻your tapas & wine 🍷tasting tour at @bodega1242 💫is awesome 👌🏼@pearlygreyoceanclub #Tenerife

Vilaflor wine tasting on trike tour!

If you are looking for something fun, different and memorable to do, then don’t look any further!

This exciting day out has something for everyone!

You are picked up at 11am by Boom Trikes Tenerife, Maria and Ian are just fabulous and so friendly and knowledgeable. I was really excited, as this was my first time on a Trike and it was really amazing from start to finish. I can only compare it to being on a boat, with the wind in your face and a feeling of utter freedom as you zoom along the roads, with gorgeous views in all directions. People stop and wave you on as you buzz past, making a memorable experience on its own.

But the trike was just the first part, we stopped at an incredible lookout area where Ian shared some of his interesting knowledge about our beautiful island and its history. This was really worthwhile.

We then stopped at an aloe vera shop, where the lady cut open an aloe plant and showed us which part of the plant is used for all their products. We then got to sample the products, which was fabulous, as I personally love aloe vera products.

After that, continued our journey up and up towards the lovely village of Vilaflor, which is the highest village in Tenerife.

The views are breath taking as you go further and further up the mountain.

We reached the Bodega and it is really authentic. Wooden barrels outside and a lovely cosy atmosphere inside. We were welcomed by the manager and we sat down and started the wine tasting. We were lucky enough to hear some of the locals playing their folk songs too.

We tasted 7 wines and 2 liqueurs, so 9 in total, so this is really worth it and it wasn’t just a small mouthful, he poured us a really good measure, so we got a great taste of each wine and left feeling very happy. J

Luckily we didn’t have to drive and had our chauffeurs to drive us home, that’s the best part!

We were served delicious tapas that complimented the various flavours of all the wines perfectly. Cheers from us!!!

After a little tour around the bodega, we mounted back on the trikes and enjoyed the ride back, looking at the impressionable scenery and feeling fabulous after an incredible day out.

Karin’s tips: You will go 1242 metres above sea level, hence the name of the Bodega, so take warm clothes and closed shoes if you have, as it may get a bit chilly up there and also when on the bike. Great to have a jacket with, but they do give you a jacket if you don’t have one, so don’t worry!

Back to school at Ingane Yami

There were smiles all around as the Ingane Yami children went back to school on Monday!

After South Africa experienced it’s second wave of the COVID pandemic, the South African Minister of Education made the decision to hold-off sending children to school. Our teachers immediately took action, putting together “home school” type packs that the children could work on from home. Our moms, once again, became the teachers, and the children started “school” on the 17th of January from their home. The schoolwork carried on, but it’s just not the same as going into the classroom!

Thus everyone was VERY excited when we were given the green light to start “real school” again!

Our Grade 1s have a brand-new school room (our OT room converted), and the Grade R’s were beaming at being in the big school for the first time! Aunty Gaby has a busy schedule: her class consists of Grade 3s, 4s and 5s this year; something she is able to manage due to the small numbers in each class, and our ACE learn-at-your-own-pace system.

Because so many of our children did not have the privilege of early childhood education, some of our children are not in the appropriate grade for their age. The learn-at-your-own-pace system allows our children a chance to catch up when they are behind. Gaby will be fast-tracking a few of our Grade 4s and all of the Grade 5s in order to give them an opportunity to catch up.

Only our oldest boy, Andile, has yet to start school. He is in Grade 9 this year, and so is attending a government high school. In time, we would love to see a High School at the Village, but with such a large age gap between Andile and the next grade, it didn’t make sense to start a High School now.

As for extra murals, the girls have all resumed ballet, though the classes are held via zoom; and our boys are itching to start gymnastics again!

Although life still feels different under COVID, our children have adapted amazingly. They, like all of us, have always learnt to appreciate the small things. The simple joy of being able to go back to school becomes a big thing; definitely something worth smiling about!

Callao Salvaje Farmacia receives recognition

Throughout the COVID-19 lockdown, the girls at Farmacia Callao Salvaje have remained open to serve the local community. M. Del Mar and her team Lali and Carolina have been on hand to offer help and dispense medication to all the residents of Callao Salvaje and surrounding areas.

In recognition of their dedication to the welfare of the local community, Pearly Grey Ocean Club and RCI have combined to offer 2 x free bonus weeks at any of RVC’s worldwide resorts.

Pearly Grey Resort Manager Ana Alvarez recently visited the girls at the Farmacia to award them with their RVC certificates.

These Resort Vacation Certificates allow the girls free accommodation at any of their resorts worldwide. They can stay close to home and travel to Lanzarote or they can travel to Hawaii, and with so many resorts to choose from the most difficult part will be deciding where to go.

At Pearly Grey we are committed to our employees and our local community #TogetherWeCan

We would also like to give special thanks to RCI for working with us and sponsoring the free weeks accommodations.

We look forward to finding out where the girls decide to go and also hearing about their holidays.

Statement on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Pearly Grey Ocean Club, like many other resorts in The Canary Islands (Spain) are closely monitoring all ongoing developments regarding the Coronavirus as this situation continues to evolve.

Our primary focus is on following the recommendations of health authorities and governmental directives during this unprecedented period.

As the situation has evolved Pearly Grey has temporarily closed the resort following a decree from the Spanish Government.  As it stands, this enforced closure will be in place up to at least 26/04/2020.

During this time our team have been working on helping our members and guests with reservations during this time to either cancel or re-book their accommodation.

Current Reservations

To facilitate this Pearly Grey has introduced a temporary FREE cancellation waiver so that all members and guests with reservations during this period have the flexibility and peace of mind to cancel and/or re-book their week/s for dates later in the year (subject to availability).  For guests who select to re-book for dates later this year, the re-booking process will also be free of charge.

We appreciate that not everyone will want to or be able to travel later this year, so we are also allowing members and guests to re-book their accommodation into 2021, providing additional options and sense of security.

Flights

Airlines too, face a time of uncertainty.  Most airlines have temporarily grounded their planes and cancelled all their scheduled flights throughout the European and Worldwide holiday destinations.  Nobody knows exactly when flight schedules will return to normal service.  However, some airlines are already promoting deals to fly to Tenerife in June this year.  You can be assured that Pearly Grey and our team will be ready to welcome you back to our resort once the current travel restrictions are lifted.

At the resort

Although the resort and all our facilities are currently closed, many of our team are working from home.  Our administration team are assisting members and guests with the cancellation and re-booking process.  The management team are in constant dialog to ensure that we have the best strategies to survive this situation and ensure our members and guests will continue to enjoy all that Pearly Grey has to offer.

Our social media team are keeping the Facebook page updated with some fun stuff and its great to see our members and guests getting involved too.  Please check it out at https://www.facebook.com/pearlygrey/.

We appreciate all your trust and support and we look forward to welcoming you all back to Pearly Grey in the near future.  Take care and above all stay safe.

Resort Developer James Beckley with a message on the current Coronavirus situation.

Ingane Yami Golf Tournament Update

Based on the evolving COVID-19 pandemic that is sweeping across the globe, Pearly Grey Ocean Club have decided to cancel this year’s 11th annual Ingane Yami Golf Tournament. After much deliberation and with very heavy hearts the decision was made to cancel this prestigious event in order to protect the health of guests as well as prevent the spread of the virus.

The tournament, which last year raised over €21,000 for the Ingane Yami Children’s Village, provides a fun and sociable way for people to donate to a worthy cause while enjoying the stunning scenery of the Costa Adeje Golf Course. The day long tournament includes a delicious lunch, a raffle and an auction making it a much-anticipated event on the Tenerife golfing scene, attracting avid golfers from across the globe.

“We are in this together and next year we will return stronger than ever to enjoy this wonderful initiative and give back to the children of Ingane Yami.”

James Beckley, Resort Director of Pearly Grey Ocean Club

Of course, the cancellation of this event doesn’t mean that you cannot show your support for Ingane Yami Children’s Village, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. An organization close to our hearts, we have been fundraising for Ingane Yami for 11 years. Each year, dedicated volunteers rely on donations and support to ensure that each orphaned child affected by the AIDS crisis receives the love, care and resources they need to flourish. Every little helps, especially in times like these.

Giving back is one of the most beautiful experiences in life. If you feel like donating, here are the ways in which you can help:

Make a donation, large or small every help is greatly appreciated

Sponsor a child and follow them on their journey

Volunteer in the village itself and see first-hand the positive impact you can have

Purchase one of our artisan South African bags available at the Pearly Grey reception.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our media partners, Oasis FM, Tenerife Magazine and Canarian Weekly who work hard to spread the word about this positive initiative.

Next year’s tournament will be show stopping and we are excited to be able to welcome you all back to the sunny shores of Tenerife soon.

For those of you who were there last year or for those who might be interested in coming along next year, below is a highlights video from the 2019 tournament……..
