Yes, we know you’re here for some much needed rest and relaxation. Well first of all, by picking a stay at Pearly Grey you’ve made a perfect choice. We have loads of sun lounges by our gorgeous pool, delicious meals and drinks at our restaurant and of course our The Edge Terrace Bar offers sublime views out across the Atlantic ocean as you sip a cocktail in total chill out mode. All of this comes with almost guaranteed gorgeous sunshine so you’ll return home with a golden tan. Don’t get us wrong, we love a chilled out day by the pool or gazing out to the ocean, but we also love an adventure. Variety is the spice of life after all!
For those of you who fancy a bit more of an adventure, don’t worry as Tenerife is also a perfect destination for those of you looking for unique experiences. One of these is the incredible Forestal Park Tenerife. After visiting there recently, we would definitely say that this is one of the top things to do on the island and something totally different to what you’ve probably ever tried before!
What many people don’t realise before they come to Tenerife and often even while they are here on the island, is that it has an abundance of nature and natural beauty (apart from sun, sand and sea). As you already know Pearly Grey is a gorgeous place to stay but just like the rest of the South coast of the island, it is not particularly green. If you head away from the coast to higher altitudes you will find incredible pine forests. This is especially the case if you head to the north of the island where you will be astonished to find a dense canary pine forest and a rich array of biodiversity. If you are used to being on the beach or relaxing poolside then you will not believe this is the same island, it’s simply incredible.
Forestal Park Tenerife is located on the edge of the stunning Teide National Park in the protected area of Las Lagunetas, close to the town of El Rosario. In amongst ginormous pine trees you will discover an incredible array of climbing equipment consisting of nets, ropes, bridges and cables. After a brief introduction and safety instruction, the real adventure begins!
You’ll soon feel like Tarzan climbing and swinging among the trees and flying down giant ziplines. You’ll clamber up ladders on the side of giant trees, cross rope bridges at incredible heights and swing into huge nets like a spiders web.
No doubt, unless you are a real adrenaline junkie, you’ll likely feel a little afraid in places and this may be out of your usual comfort zone. We’ll admit we were a little afraid in places, but that’s what made it all the more fun. Quite simply this offers a huge amount of excitement that will leave you with a big smile on your face and a sense of real achievement. After crossing one of the rope bridges or flying down a zip line you will feel incredible and be absolutely buzzing with energy!
Forestal Park is so much more than you can imagine and something you should definitely try while you’re here in Tenerife. It is a great introduction to adventure sports, even for those who don’t feel particularly adventurous and an excellent way to get back in touch with nature. It is also perfect for anyone whether you are on your own, in a couple, family or group.
There are many different difficulty levels to try, including a section especially for families with young kids, so no one will feel left out. It’s also a brilliant place for a party or event as it is a fantastic place for bonding and having fun together. So, why not get out your comfort zone and head to Forestal Park Tenerife for a unique and incredible adventure, that very likely be one of the highlights of your holiday.
